Mike Spadafore

Q. What's your story?

A. 

I’ve always wanted to work with inspiring entrepreneurs and help build unique and interesting businesses. After spending my first couple years out of school in management consulting, I quickly realized that there is no better time to begin that journey than now. I began networking with a number of impressive entrepreneurs and venture capitalists in Chicago, including Dan from Healthbox, who was kind enough to introduce me to the Sandbox Venture Fund team.

Q. What inspires you?

A. 

I think it is inherently motivating to work with entrepreneurs who see the world from their own unique point of view and have incredible passion to make a change. I also think it is inspiring to help define the future of industries, like healthcare, education, etc., that have potential to make significant societal impact. However, most importantly, I enjoy learning new things every day, whether it is about hemodynamic technology or how to ride your bike in the winter (thanks Jeff!).

Q. Why Sandbox?

A. 

I really enjoy being part of an environment that is full of extremely intelligent, talented people trying to make their mark on the world. I also like the interesting discussions and challenges that occur at Sandbox every day and wearing jeans to work isn’t a bad thing either.

Q. Where can we find you outside of work?

A. 

I am a huge sports fan, especially Michigan sports (Go Blue!), so you will usually find me watching or playing sports, especially football, soccer, and beach volleyball. I also enjoy being a wannabe foodie and exploring the great Chicago restaurants.
